AT LEAST HE TRIED!
I was watching Fox News yesterday afternoon, and David Asman for FOX News happened to be interviewing Rick Warren. Mr. Warren is now promoting his new project of changing the world! He spoke on the AIDS Epidemic and how churches should reach out more to those fighting this disease. It was like no churches were reaching out now or ever and we needed him to tell the churches to do so. The more and more I hear about Mr. Warren, I wonder who he does all this for "The Glory Of God"....or the glory of himself?
I hear too many of his statements starting and ending with "I" or Saddleback. Fox News described him like this "He's an evangelical superstar. His runaway best seller has transformed lives" He is a Superstar? He is transforming lives? Isn't that Gods job? I guess what made me blog on Mr. Warren this morning was a few of his last words. When I die, I just want 4 small words put on my tombstone "At Least He Tried". Now where is the Glory of God in those 4 small words?
Here is a good site to go to concerning Rick Warren and "The Purpose Drive Movement..

It is an eye opener. We as christians need to be more discerning and listen more closely to what is being preached in the name of Our Risen Savior.
To God Be the Glory,

Cristina, I have never put faith nor trust in a preacher/pastor. I pray he teaches it correctly. I do attend church to be fed and I do my own reading of the Bible and study it myself. My faith, trust, beliefs and my dependency is in God in the name of Jesus Christ. He is the only one I trust to tell me the spirit of truth.
By the way, did you hear the story of a hispanic man claiming he was Jesus Christ? I started laughing when I heard that. The real Jesus Christ does NOT studder when he speaks and he does not take money to buy a fancy home.
Cristina: great thoughts on Warren.
You are quite a thinker. The blogosphere needs more Reformed women writers. I will encourage you in whatever way I can. Your appearence in blogdom is a big PLUS! Please keep blogging. You are a blessing.
Hi Sherry,
I agree through the Holy Spirit we are taught and given understanding of the Bible. But I also think that God has given men gifts of Preaching and Teaching.
There are many wonderful Pastors out their that I would go to if I did not understand something.
God has also given us Men and Women the gift of wisdom and I have had the privilege of knowing and getting council from some. Those that are wise still get council from others too.
I believe we have the Word of God to teach us and to guide us in Truth and we have our brothers and sisters to also help us.
Saying all that, we also need to be weary of those false teachers out there that are deluding the truth and we do that by the study of the Word and discernment. Sherry, I would like to encourage you to pray that the Lord can bring folks into your life that you can study with and seek truth with. We have a bible study group we are part of and I will tell you it sure helps to have others that are like minded to study with and learn from and fellowship with. It has been a blessing to our lives.
Love,
Cristina
Hi Mark,
Thankyou for you encouraging words
Cristina
Sarah,
So true. They are blinded to the fact that He and He alone deserves all the Glory.

Phil. 2:5-8 - "Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, 11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Cristina, I didn't mean it like that. What I meant was they are human just like me and there are some really good preachers out there who preach the true word. Each and every day the Lord nurtures us with even more abundance of gifts (wisdom, understanding, love, etc...)to recognize those signs of false teachings. My preacher encourages individual and group Bible study as well as encouraging each other. I feel like a baby compared to the women at church. I'm 39 and they are all over 60. LOL I still love them as my sisters and pray for them. I would like to attend & hear Henry Frueh from JudahsLion blog preach the gospel. Problem!!! I'm in Ohio and he's in Florida.
I told you I'm not a good writer. LOL
Sherry,
I apoligize for taking it that way. I thought that is what you meant. Yes the Lord has given us many good men that Love to preach and teach the church. Praise the Lord.

Hi Luvvom,
Thankyou for your concern and prayers, I really appreciate it. The tumor I have is a Meniginoma tumor. I have had it for 4 years and the doctor told me that I may have had it for at least 5 years prior. I go again in November for another scan. So I would ask for prayer that it has not grown anymore. What ever the Lord has in plan for it though I will leave with Him. Thanks Again.
Cristina
PS I am a member of Meniginoma Mommas on the internet. It has been a big help to me these past few years. There are so many more men and women with greater needs then I..Christ being the greatest need.
Glad to read I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I heard that tombstone quip recently and had to shout at the radio...
They were talking about how Rick wants to transform the Christian Church and the world. And they posed the question, "could one man accomplish this?"
I yelled back, "YES. JESUS ALREADY DID!"
Let God work.
