TRUST GOD

Those circumstances, which to the dim eye of Jacob's faith wore a hue so somber, were at that very moment developing and perfecting the events which were to shed around the evening of his life the halo of a glorious and cloudless sunset. All things were working together for his good! And so, troubled soul, the "much tribulation" will soon be over, and as you enter the "kingdom of God" you shall then see, no longer "through a glass darkly" but in the unshadowed sunlight of the Divine presence, that "all things" did "work together" for your personal and eternal good.

As the Elections of United Stated draw near, I are wondering what will happen in the next years ahead with the newly elected Government? When folks go to elect the one they feel would run the country better, do they elect the best of the worse? Do they elect the ones that are against abortion or those that are for abortion because they seem to be the better one that can deal with the economy? I have heard many professing Christians say they will vote for Obama because they feel he will be the best one because of the economy, and some say they will vote for McCain because he would be best one to deal with the terrorist and can protect our country.

McCain supports the following statements:
Abortions should be legal only when the pregnancy resulted from incest, rape, or when the life of the woman is endangered.
Prohibit the late-term abortion procedure known as “partial-birth” abortion.
Prohibit public funding of abortions and public funding of organizations that advocate or perform abortions.

Obama:
Q: Do you personally believe that life begins at conception?
A: This is something that I have not come to a firm resolution on. I think it's very hard to know what that means, when life begins. Is it when a cell separates? Is it when the soul stirs? So I don't presume to know the answer to that question. What I know is that there is something extraordinarily powerful about potential life and that that has a moral weight to it that we take into consideration when we're having these debates.

I have to ask the Americans, do you vote for men that feel it is ok to abort a baby? We have been given the freedom and privilege to vote, but I also believe we have to be true to the Lord and not vote for a man that would agree to abortion, in any cercumstance. We have to remember who ever gets voted in to office, God has already planned it and for what ever purpose has allowed one of these two gentlemen to run the country for the years ahead. As a christian can you really vote for one of these men because of their stand on Abortion? I could not cast a vote for a man that believes in the murder of of a baby.

When a mom decides to abort her baby because she was raped or because of incest, I am sorry I can not agree with it. There are many folks out there that are alive because a mother decided against abortion, and gave birth, I am sure they are so thankful. When a mother's life is in trouble, it is tough but I have a heard of many women willing to take a chance for their baby to be born and I commend them.

I guess it bothers me that christians are willing to vote in a man that is willing to take away the chance of life for a baby to be born. Obama is just sitting on the fence like he always does to get the vote from both sides. I commend a man that stands up and say abortion is wrong and I will not agree with it and I commend a christian to say no and does not vote for a man that believes in the murdering of babies.

Divine sovereignty is not the sovereignty of a tyrannical Despot, but the exercised pleasure of One who is infinitely wise and good! Because God is infinitely wise He cannot err, and because He is infinitely righteous He will not do wrong. Here then is the preciousness of this truth. The mere fact itself that God's will is irresistible and irreversible fills me with fear, but once I realize that God wills only that which is good, my heart is made to rejoice.

Cristina,
The thing about Obama is that his position, as you quoted him here, is something he holds all his oponents to. He doesn't believe that anybody can sway him into saying that life begins at conception. He now presents his position as an immovable rock. In saying that he has not arrived at a concussion, well, he actually has. In effect he is saying, "I don't know when life begins... so prove to me that it begins at conception". How does one go about to do that? He seems unwilling to see things through a biblical perspective. In so doing he blinds himself to the opposing view-point.

It is quite simple to understand that life begins at conception, especially for one who profess's Christ. Scientifically speaking, the life begins when the female egg is fertilized by the male sperm. It is because the natural man set's his views in opposition to God's view and God's law.

I do however agree the presuppositions of people are where their worldviews are. He does not believe it is murder because he does not believe it is a life, this however is contary to science, and it also takes life which is only God's to give and take into the hands of man.

We live in an era of modern Holocaust, the genecide that occurs daily in the thousands; these men and women who comit these acts will answer for their actions before God, and to use a very famouse quote...

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. - Edmond Burke

That Edmond Burke quotation is one that has impacted me before. Many people are taking a "do nothing" stand by essentially voting in a way that will have no positive influence on this nation away from evil. There are some hard choices and questions during this election, which I have been thinking hard and long about on my blog.

Hi Mark and Maxine,
I know it is hard to be in your position as a Christian in this election.

Mark, I can honestly say I do not believe Obama to be a Christian. If a man or women says abortions is ok, I can not see them being a child of God.

Maxine, the quote my son left by Mr. burke, I agree with. But I will add this when a person is convicted about not choosing either one of the candidates and does not vote, they are doing something, they are standing up for their convictions, they will not vote in a president that allows abortion in any circumstance..it is a tough decision, but in their hearts the right decision.

Your countrie's election is in my prayers. God reigns and who ever is voted in, is part of His plan no matter what the outcome is.

Hi Cristina,

The reason I vote Republican is b/c their basic platform is more in line with my way of thinking - though I don't always agree with all Republicans on every issue. (Bush has spent way too much of our money, as far as I'm concerned; and he's wrong on the border issue.)

Being conservative in every aspect, I cannot get on board with the ideology of the Democrat platform. Basically...tax and spend, and let us (the gov't) "take care of you" from cradle to grave. Unfortunately, we've created a nation of people with an entitlement and dependence mentality. Sad.

I, too, doubt that Sen Obama is a Christian, not merely b/c of his stance on abortion (which is more radical than the most liberal of people), but a host of other reasons as well. I would be hesitant to make a statement, though, that says a person cannot be a Christian if they believe abortion is right. God sanctifies us on His own timeline. I know He's changed my core beliefs on a number of issues over time.

Anyway, as I told Mark in one of his posts, if we truly hold to the complete sovereignty of God, then we're assured that He has ordained our next president from before the foundation of the world. That gives me great comfort, actually, as the king's heart is like channels of water in hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes. :-)

Hi Gayla,
It gives me great comfort too, knowing God's purpose for what ever lies ahead will bring Him Glory in the end. I am so glad he reigns and that I am one of His. We need to just get praying and knowing that His will...will be done.

Yeah, I don't like either guy. We haven't had a good president for a long time! I'll vote, but I'm with you when I say I'm glad it's God who puts into government those He wants there. Lucky for us our salvation isn't found in our government! ;o)

Life does begin before we can see his/her by the naked eye. This shows how the natural man thinks that his own eye knows the truth. If someone is still belonging to the world, the absolute truth as written in the Bible is foolishness to them. The natural man is so foolish to say, "Hey.. I don't see a baby with legs or a face yet, so it must not be alive."
No wonder God is furious with America! Can we blame him? Can a nation with the most powerful army and well trained troops bring a charge against him and serve him a warrant? I doubt it. The nations are counted to him as nothing. God have mercy on us for allowing such wicked men to come to power. We have dwelt without a care loving our blessings more than the blesser. And we continually eat the bread of idleness instead of the unleavened bread named, "Jesus." Let us humble ourselves pray for mercy so that we will be able to endure what is coming upon the nation. If we are his, he will give us grace to get through the adversity.
