AT LEAST 32 DEAD IN VIRGININA SHOOTING RAMPAGE!

My heart and prayers go out to the families and friends left behind. To have to deal with such a loss must be unbearable. Students going to school one day to advance their futures and teachers there to teach all they know to help students with their future ahead, are shot dead or injured for what?? Because a man that may have been so desperate that he looses it and decides to kill himself and take other dear lives with him or a man mad at the world or just someone and takes his life and these poor unexpected people. What is the reason for all this?? Evil comes within the heart of man.

Mark 7:21-23 21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 "thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 "All these evil things come from within and defile a man."

A man whose heart is evil has taken these poor souls and lead them into eternity, which path only God knows and they know, now. A lot of young folks don't really think about their future when they leave this world. They think they have a life time ahead of them and they should. But who knows what tomorrow will bring?
This is a good reason why the bible teaches today is the day for Salvation.
For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of of salvation. (II Corinthians 6:2)

My heart grieves for those 33 or more people and all their families and friends left behind and the shooter and his family and friends. Let us hold up those folks left behind up in prayer.

There is an essential difference between the decease of the godly and the death of the ungodly. Death comes to the ungodly man as a penal infliction, but to the righteous as a summons to his Father's palace. To the sinner it is an execution, to the saint an undressing from his sins and infirmities. Death to the wicked is the King of terrors. Death to the saint is the end of terrors, the commencement of glory.

This is indeed a tragedy that you posted about. It broke my heart when I heard about the first shooting in the dorm. Then when I heard of the shooting at the engineering building it just blew me away. I can't imagine how he managed to get across campus and get into that other building without anyone seeing him and then for him to walk from classroom to classroom without anyone being able to stop him....well all I can say is that God allowed it to happen for a purpose. God will get the glory out of it somehow. He always does out each and every situation. I too am praying for those victims who survived and their families.

It is hard to grasp the day we are living in. But it does make one desirous for the coming of Christ.

It is a tragic thing! One never knows when your "I love you" will be the last one you say to your loved one, but like you pointed out the most important is whether or not we've prayed and sought the Lord on their behalf for salvation and His comfort! Sometimes God brings tragic times into our lives to make us run to Him, bow down in humble submission, and give glory and honor to Him! If we do by His grace, what a loving face He turns to us! What tender hands He comforts us with! What healing words from His Word He soothes our souls! God is good, so very good! Thank you for the Spurgeon quote...I'll put it on one of my sites if you don't mind.

Cristina,
I just found where you gave me a site for poems on one of my sites! Sorry, I don't ever look for comments there and just happened to find that one. I do appreciate the site you gave me!

Ah, Cristina! A Spurgeon quote! I can smell them almost anywhere on the blogospere!

Regarding Christians and death... Having just preached the resurrection I noticed that angel sitting on the rock told the women, "Do not be afraid." How interesting it might have been to see the rough and tough Roman soldiers passed out in fear on one side and the meek of Jesus standing and talking with an angel on the other! The grave holds no fear for us anymore. It is the open path for us into the presence of our Lord!

Cristina,
Good thoughts and I love that Spurgeon quote. It is hard to imagine how those parents must feel over something like that.

I was talking to my husband about all the goings on last night. The journalists drive me nuts on this!!!! They wring their hands and ask 'why' and 'what could possibly cause someone to do such a heinous thing?' On and on they go, looking for answers...

I thought maybe I was being too simplistic about the whole thing - realizing that we are sinful, evil creatures. And it is ONLY by the grace of God that He restrains us from being as evil as we can be. Left to our own depraved selves, and if God were to remove His hand, any one of us is capable of the same thing, but we sure love to proclaim, "I could never do such a thing."

OK sorry to rant on...

Having my oldest son now away at college for his first year, I felt in some small way the horror of the day... my heart breaks for the families involved.

Your comment about today being the day for Salvation is so true, and right - and so like Jesus. Remember His answer when confronted by a similar tragedy: (Galileans killed by Pilate's soldiers in the temple while they sacrificed!), and Jesus said to those who asked why: "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish..." (Luke 13:1-3+)

May our Lord comfort those involved who belong to Him, and may eyes be opened to the precarious state of those who continue in rebellion against Him.

It was such a sad day and my heart broke for those parents. I wish people wouldn't blame everyone and everything though. It was Cho's fault, nobody elses! It boils down to a moral problem and rules and laws can't fix that!
I felt lead to post about the tragedy also. My heart was so heavy and my mind was so full.
